The first tract to go off the lot was tract number 8 , a well coveted space of land, the crowd was energetic and the bidding was fast paced, with the conclusion of the first round selling for $95,950. The high bidder signed the bid acknowledgement with the understanding they could be out bid in a combination of other tracts. The bid was posted. All bids were subject to a buyer’s premium as stated in all terms and conditions of the land auction.
The second round of bidding was open once again to high bidder’s choice and the land was offered by the acre. The high bidder had the opportunity to choose as many tracts as they wanted or simply could take just one tract with no particular order. The Auctioneer was continuous in his chant and bid assistants and auctioneers were hard at work working the crowd, Bill Dunn CAI, and Tommy Rowell CAI, kept a steady pace with the bidders and riled up the crowd inside the tent. Mr. Walter House sparked the beginning of the next round with a starting bid of $2000 and quickly progressed upward in price. The gavel fell at $75,750 for tract number 5. The bid was subject to combination and seller confirmation. David Hart writing the bid acknowledgement and confirming the purchase bid.
It was around the 4th round that yielded a much higher bid than the previous rounds and the buyer ultimately picked tract 17,18,19 for a total of $262,600. The following rounds quickly came and tracts 4 and 12 went for $101,000 . At the end of the first cycle all the tracts had been bid on and the North Carolina real estate land had lured in many interested buyers. Following the first cycle, after all the interested bidders had placed their bids on each tract, came the round of combinations. It was a tense five minutes of deliberation for the crowd, as bid assistant stood watch ready for any high bidders. The combination round resulted in one bidder purchasing tracts1-21, and tracts 22 and 23 went to separate bidders. The combination round gives the opportunity to any one or more bidders who are interested in different tract numbers and would like to combine them how they want. This large piece of prime North Carolina real estate land had not exchanged hands for over 50 years and it only took less than two hours for the land to fly off the shelf.
