Altha Florida Farm SOLD!!!!!!

By Myers Jackson

Florida Land to sell at Auction by order of the United States Bankruptcy Court

A total of 458 acres has been ordered sold by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Florida, Panama City Division. The land was ordered to sell at Public Auction March 3rd, 2007 at 10:00 AM on location in Altha, Calhoun County, Florida. This area in Calhoun County is known for its red level reputation (excellent soils for farm crops) and the majority of farming in Calhoun County is done in Altha. According to a 1992 census of Agriculture about 14 percent of the counties farming are related to crops and pasture. 78 percent of the acreage is used for row crops and the balance for pasture land.

Recent amendments and passage of the newly adopted comprehensive plan allows for mixed use zoning on certain tracts of land that will be sold. Farms 1, 3 and 4 are located within the designated mixed use zone. This will allow for more aggressive real estate housing development in this area. The usage of the existing county roads will allow for the four farms to be divided into 11 separate parcels or lots. These will be offered high bidders choice to determine the highest and best bid.
